- We are sponsoring the appearance of Mrs. Caroline Emery (leading expert in young-bassist pedagogy, teacher at the Royal College, London and Yehudi Menuhin School) as a lecturer at the TMEA convention, Feb. 2013!  Look for an announcement of a teacher-training workshop here at QBC the week following the convention.


- We are extremely pleased and proud to announce the winner of our 2012 Texas All-State Double Bass Etudes Reference Recording Competition. Congrats to Jory Herman of San Diego Symphony! He wins a $400 store credit from QBC.  We encourage you to 'like' and 'share' these on youtube and/or our facebook page, so Jory's tutorials will reach as many aspiring all-staters as want to view them.


-Just one year ago, we offered one Saturday group class open to bassists of all levels.  This year we are offering four different classes in bass!  Three levels of bass technique, and our Tuesday night jazz class.  Please see the education page for more info.

-"Any day" we will be expanding into the neighboring studio in our building, which will be used principally as a showroom for our growing collection of basses.  So, now is a great time to contact us if you have a bass to sell or consign.

-We will be exhibiting at the TMEA convention Feb. 13-16, 2013, showcasing (along with other inventory) our line of very high-quality fractional basses.  They are available at prices that put starting young bassists within reach of many more school programs and parents.

Our Mission

To facilitate extending top-notch double bass education down to the beginner level by making better instruments and current pedagogy accessible, to support Houston's finest professionals by attracting a world-class bass luthier and maintaining an inventory of fine basses; to encourage fine performance graduates to stay in Houston and audition for our local orchestras by 1) facilitating high-level teaching studios, and 2) working with Houston's performing organizations to fund bassists' job creation.
